Our Story

—

To travel to Croatia, U.S. citizens need a passport valid for at least three months beyond your departure date

Flying into Croatia's capital Zagreb (ZAG) is the more practical option when flying from Louisville. Flight schedules are more frequent and less seasonal. Travel distance drive time is about 2 hours from Zagreb to Opatija. The fastest and simplest form of transportation would be a car rental or private transfer.

Franjo Tuđman International Airport Zagreb

Rijeka is about a 40 min drive from downtown Opatija. This is a great option for people that are already in Europe or can easily position to a European hub that serves RJK flight times. Rental car, private transportation and Uber are also options if selecting this airport.

Q + A

Our Favorite Sea Walk

The "sea walk" in Opatija, Croatia, refers to the famous Lungomare coastal promenade, a scenic 7.45 mile path along the Adriatic Sea connecting Volosko to Lovran, offering stunning views, historic villas, hidden coves with swimming spots, cafes, and landmarks like the Girl with the Seagull statue, perfect for leisurely strolls day or night.

Hike to Mount Učka

If you are feeling adventurous, grab your sneakers and take a hike up to Vojak hill tower built in 1911, the highest point in Istria (1401 meters above sea level), offering 360° views.

Mošćenička Draga Beach

Take a short car ride to Mošćenička Draga beach. Known as one of the most beautiful, fine pebble beaches on the Kvarner Riviera, known for its crystal-clear, turquoise, and white, smooth pebbles. Enjoy local cafes, restaurants, and shops in the area.
